This devotional is intended for Latvians to engage themselves in daily Bible readings. Each day's selected scripture verses are arranged by topic to familiarize and strengthen one's faith, one's understanding of God, His character and dealings with humanity. Each day there are two selections, one for the morning, and the other for the evening. Each reading is self-contained. There are no commentary notes, only Bible texts.

This work was undertaken by Eriks Vermelis, using the highly-popular English version "Daily Light" devotional as a example. Texts were reviewed with feedback incorporated to distinguish which version of the Latvian Bible texts were cited for each verse. Permission was solicited and obtained from the publishers of previous Latvian Bibles (i.e. British and Foreign Bible Society and Latvian Bible Society).

Ikdienas Gaisma is a non-profit organization, intent on promoting Bible reading from the Latvian Bibles in print. Referals and gifts to other readers will increase distribution of this devotional.
